Mechanical Separators

Mechanical oil/water separators are designed to remove most oil from the water, to meet a standard of less than 15 ppm oil remaining in the water. These systems are a very cost effective method of reaching that standard. The systems utilize fixed inclined oleophilic plates that have a high surface area which attracts the oil out of suspension and collects it to the surface, where a skimmer removes it from the process stream. GET, Inc. is not presently offering this type of system.

Filtration Type Separators

GET builds filtration type oil removal systems which use special cartridges made to fit in standard housings. These cartridges contain a patented oil absorption media that effectively removes oil from streams of water, even emulsified oil. These same cartridges can be effectively applied to antifreeze (glycol) recycling systems, greatly reducing the oil loading on the membranes with the result of less frequent membrane cleanings and significantly longer membrane life.

Membrane Oil/Water Separators

For a much higher standard of oil removal, membrane separation technology is employed. These systems are able to remove virtually all of the oil present in water, including mechanical or chemical emulsions. The resulting water will have 0 ppm remaining oil. These systems are more costly to build and to operate than mechanical types, but have the advantage of the highest quality treated water. GET classifies this type of oil/water separator as a WWTS (Industrial Waste Water Treatment System).
