GET, Inc. Ultra-Violet Sterilizers
Ultra-Violet (U-V) Sterilizers are a very effective method of sterilizing water for drinking and other use. Advantages include: Very low capital cost, near-zero operating costs, and effective sterilization without any change to the taste or other properties of the water. Other fluids can also be sterilized by the use of U-V. Ultra-Violet sterilizers operate on the principle that light waves shorter in length than those visible to human eyes (or ultra-violet light) effectively kills bacteria and viruses when given in sufficient dosages. Producing the U-V light requires a special lamp containing selected gases. These gases, when excited by the flow of electricity through them, emit U-V rays. To make this effective for a stream of fluid, a system must be designed that permits a specified flow to pass by the U-V lamp. Usually, the lamps are contained in quartz sleeves or the fluid may be contained in the quartz sleeve. Often, reflectors may be added to maximize the usefulness of the U-V rays. The U-V dosage is calculated to be sufficient to eliminate the pathogens, and is measured in microwatts per square centimeter. GET offers U-V sterilizers with rated output at end of lamp life of 16,000, 32,000 and 40,000 m W/ cm2. GET U-V Sterilizers are available in three levels. The "good" systems are rated at 16,000 m W/ cm2, the "excellent" systems at 32,000, and the "premium" U-V systems at 40,000 m W/ cm2. Other differences include more instrumentation and a higher standard of electrical and structural integrity on the better models.
