EXECUTIVE SUMMARY GET has acquired the rights to the technology to produce PBCES power generation modules of 20 MW each, using a highly advanced & refined version of the German-developed PBMR (Pebble Bed Modular Reactor) design. This system features many fail safe designs to make it impossible to have any accident or contamination, and impossible to use any part of the system or the fuel for a weapon. The
reactor contains about 72,000 hermetically sealed “pebbles”, each containing
about 11,000 small granules of fuel, encapsulated strategically in graphite &
silicon carbide. The pebble design makes it impossible for sufficient heat to
develop to cause an accident, even if the cooling system is suddenly and
completely shut down. Cooling
and energy production are accomplished using totally inert helium as the
transfer medium. Heated helium is used to convert water to steam, which in turn
drives a turbine coupled to a power generator. Fail safe isolation and
sophisticated automation complete this inherently safe power generation module. Our
minimum installation is 10 MW per hour. Our minimum contract is 20 MW per hour.
The relatively small size of our inherently safe power generators provides a
number of strategic advantages. The size and standardization permits factory
fabrication, greatly reducing delivery times and keeping the production costs
modest. This results in a relatively fast startup time for today’s critical
energy needs, and a very attractive cost per kWh of electricity. Typical lead
times are about 18-24 months. The
systems feature environmentally friendly, low cost power. No CO2, other
greenhouse gasses or air pollution are produced. No water pollution results from
these systems. The modest load on cooling water can be virtually eliminated by
adding water desalination to the systems. Another
very significant advantage of our system is that its modest capacity allows for
smaller municipalities and even private industry to take advantage of this
technology. The plants can be centrally located, reducing or eliminating the
need for costly transmission lines, which also suffer losses in power over long
distances. GET plants can be installed in close proximity to the consumers of
electricity, even in residential areas. Space requirements are very modest,
reducing the cost of land usually associated with such projects. GET
offers PBCES power sales through authorized representatives. Please contact GET or
your authorized representative for additional information and a specific
proposal for your power requirements.
